Social Media Editor at Fast Company, Anjali Mullany, shares the three smartest things she read this week.

1) No More Magical Thinking by David Remnick, The New Yorker
Remnick is right: there is no greater challenge facing the President than climate change, no threat to human happiness greater in scale than the warming of our Earth — and disturbingly, no threat our politicians are more likely to fail to defeat.

2) How A Former Prisoner Is Creating A LinkedIn For The Incarcerated by Ariel Schwartz, FastCompany.com
A while back, Jason Samuels and Soledad O’Brien produced a CNN documentary in which one of the subjects declared that if blacks continue to be left out of America’s tech scene, the consequence will be a permanent black underclass. Then in this month’s Fast Company, I read about these incredible entrepreneurs  who are leading Afghanistan’s nascent but highly creative technology movement in the face of great challenges. This week I read this great Co.Exist piece about prison start up accelerators, an idea I find so inspiring, especially since it is producing projects that are attempting to break the prison cycle. I’m so excited and anxious, all at once, about the potential of this technology revolution to both empower people and leave them utterly behind.

3) Over The Wall by Roger Angell, The New Yorker

Because it is beautiful, and stilled me.
